Microcredential in Being Quantum Ready
Quantum technologies (QT) are already causing a paradigm shift in computing, security and other key areas. Our micro-credential course, is designed for businesses and individuals to become “quantum-ready.” To be quantum-ready means to be aware of the challenges posed and to be prepared to meet them
Provided by: Dublin city University
Course Description
Course Aim:
The course will provide a comprehensive introduction to quantum computing (QC) quantum technologies (QT), including:
- An understanding of the practical effects of quantum mechanics
- A grounding in market-leading QTs
- Familiarisation with the key algorithms in QC and applications of QT
- Understanding quantum information theory and applications
- Evaluation of QT with respect to classical solutions for business applications
Who Should Apply:
This course is relevant to business decision makers and knowledge workers in businesses which use technology extensively, but who are not themselves technological experts.
Learning Outcomes:
LO1: Foundations and Practical Implications of Quantum Mechanics
LO2: Differentiate between types of quantum computing hardware, their physical components, and engineering challenges in building them.
LO3: Familiarity of key Applications (Quantum Key Distribution, Teleportation, Factoring, Simulation)
LO4: Evaluate the capabilities, limitations and potential areas for applying quantum computing, by identifying key high-level tipping points to reach practical quantum computing.
LO5: Experiment with access to different types of quantum hardware and software emulators from public and commercial quantum computing systems.
LO6: Evaluate the requirements for the practical application of quantum algorithms.
LO7: Discuss the value chain and value proposition of quantum computing alongside classical high-performance computing.
Online Delivery:
This course will be 100% delivered online and is designed for those wanting to engage in education while working full-time. Learners will be assessed via continuous assessment (e.g. through assignments and projects but not through a written exam). All registered learners will have access to DCUs eLibrary and DCU’s student portal, Loop.
Acknowledgement of Support:
Supported by the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
