Course Structure and Syllabus

The course consists of six key modules:

1. Business Development and Innovation Management:
– Ideation, lateral thinking, and market testing.

2. Financing a Business:
– Financial planning, risk management, and staff management.

3. Business Growth:
– Scaling strategies, financing growth, and business valuation.

4. Business and Product Lifecycle:
– Life cycle stages, sustainability, and life cycle assessment (LCA).

5. Sustainable Innovative Business Models:
– Transitioning from product-based to service-based models.

6. Intellectual Property (IP) Overview:
– Understanding IP types and protection mechanisms.

Teaching and Assessment Methods

The course is delivered through lectures, tutorials, and community interaction, following a flipped classroom format with two live tutorials. Examples are primarily drawn from the hydrogen industry, but the principles can be adapted to any sector. Assessment for ECTS points is available via the University of Birmingham in combination with a homework assignment. Alternatively, participants can earn a digital badge from Future.Solutions Academy by passing all quizzes without the homework requirement.
