Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide a basic understanding of how the electrical system works and how it has evolved over time. We will explore how this system has adapted to sustainability policies and improvements in energy efficiency, highlighting its role in the fight against climate change.

The workshop is structured in a series of guided stages that combine textual instructions and explanatory videos. Reading and watching this material will provide an overview of the specific system being addressed. The course materials, including both theoretical content and visual materials, will be in English.

In the first section of the course, we will present the key features of the traditional electrical system, along with its benefits and drawbacks. Next, we will discuss the objectives of the new energy paradigm and the technologies that enable this transition.

The second unit of the course focuses on the technical characteristics of key renewable energy generation components, such as wind turbines, different types of installations, and the motors used. The same process will then be applied to photovoltaic power generation plants.

The third topic of the course covers electric mobility, exploring different alternatives to traditional combustion-powered road transport vehicles.

Finally, in the last unit, we will examine how connectivity and the development of ICT help improve the efficiency of the electrical system.
