Ph.D. in Computer Vision

The PhD in Computer Science at CVC holds the “HR Excellence in Research” distinction, and hosts 10 new Ph.D. students in Computer Vision and Machine Learning every year. The CVC doctoral program is integrated within the UAB doctoral program, and it has the benefit of broad experience and training activities for the students. It goes back to RD 185/1985, when the doctoral studies in computer science started at the UAB. The UAB has over 65 PhD programmes regulated by Royal Decree 99/2011, on PhD studies, and these are categorised in 5 areas of interest: Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Social and Juridical Sciences, Health Sciences and Engineering. Furthermore, from 2014 the UAB holds the distinction “HR Excellence in Research”, which reflects our commitment to guarantee a supportive research environment.

Currently, the PhD in Computer Science is an interdepartmental programme of three departments of the Engineering School that carry out teaching and research in the area of computing (Department of Computer Science, Department of Information Engineering and Department of Computer Architecture and Operating Systems). Beyond these three departments the PhD programme also works closely and consistently with two leading research centres: the Computer Vision Centre and the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA) of the Spanish Research Council.
