How do you create deep tech courses that not only grab learners’ attention but stay relevant in a world where technology evolves every month?
This is one of the central questions driving the EIT Deep Tech Talent’s final Pledgers’ Share & Connect of the year, a community event co-hosted with University of Barcelona, on 2–3 December 2025.
This gathering in Barcelona will bring together our growing community of Pledgers for two days of inspiration, knowledge exchange, and hands-on collaboration. Participants will gain a front-row view of cutting-edge work across the EIT Deep Tech Talent ecosystem and discover new partnership opportunities that can elevate their own training programmes.
This article kicks off a short series exploring the sessions co-designed with input from Pledgers themselves.
Designing Deep Tech Courses That Truly Make an Impact
The opening panel on Day 1, led by Caroline Mol, Member of the EIT Deep Tech Talent Advisory Board, sets the tone for the entire event. The session will explore what it really takes to design, deliver, and sustain deep tech and STEM courses that reach diverse learners and remain impactful over time.
Our expert panel brings together leaders who have done exactly that:
- Petia Radeva, Professor and Head of Computer Vision and Machine Learning, University of Barcelona; Advisory Board Member, EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative
- Araceli Venegas-Gomez, Founder & CEO, QURECA
- Tomasz Chyrchel, CEO, Generator Pomysłów & Programme Director, AIDEAS
- Minh-Huy Lai, Europe COO, Generation Europe
Together, they will share what they’ve learned from building and scaling programmes across AI, quantum, machine learning, and other deep tech fields.
Why This Panel Matters for Pledgers
Designing deep tech training that stands out is not easy, especially when market needs shift fast and institutions face long approval cycles. This session will dig into the realities behind the scenes:
- How to keep curricula fresh without overwhelming resources?
- What does a “great course” look like when both academic rigor and industry relevance are expected?
- How to design learning experiences that keep diverse learners motivated and engaged from start to finish?
For any Pledger building or planning new deep tech programmes, this panel offers rare, practical insights from organisations that have learned how to navigate these challenges effectively.
AI: a game-changer (and a challenge) for course design
One of the panel’s most anticipated discussions will explore how AI tools are reshaping both course delivery and course development.
From curriculum updates driven by rapidly evolving AI capabilities to new ways of personalising learning experiences, to more engaging instructor–learner interactions, AI is transforming the field.
But with opportunity comes complexity:
- How should training providers integrate AI meaningfully?
- What skills must educators themselves acquire?
- How to maintain quality and trust?
Expect concrete examples, honest reflections, and forward-looking strategies.
Scaling What Works
The session will also examine what happens after a course is designed:
- How do providers scale online or hybrid programmes sustainably?
- What operational and strategic decisions make the difference between a one-off pilot and a long-lasting, high-impact curriculum?
These are questions every education and training provider face, and this panel will offer actionable guidance.
