Meet the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative’s
Tech Radar

In its quest to skill, up-skill and re-skill 1 million people by the end of 2025 to create a steady supply of European deep tech talents, the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative recently launched the Tech Radar, an interactive, dynamic visualisation tool that will help learners (talent) and organisations (Pledgers) explore deep technology topics.

What is the Tech Radar?

The EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative’s Tech Radar is a dynamic digital tool built around 35 technologies relevant to deep tech. It visualises emerging technologies and the organisations active in them, as well as available courses for learners on the EIT Deep Tech Talent platform.

The Tech Radar has been built in collaboration with Pledgers of the Initiative, ensuring its relevance to the community. It includes over 50 use cases that anchor those technologies into real world solutions to tackle some of society’s greatest challenges such as climate change.

Who will benefit from using the Tech Radar?

Students

Students interested in, and looking to develop a career in AI will be able to see possible career paths through the use cases. They will also be able to investigate relevant training courses to help them advance their career and discover Pledgers as both trainers and future employers.

Businesses

Any business organisation wanting to know how deep tech might affect their future business will be able to discover possible business opportunities through the use cases and use the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Business Readiness Level (BRL) for strategic planning. They will also be able to find relevant courses to get their staff upskilled in deep tech areas and find Pledgers for training and possible business connections.

Training Providers

The Tech Radar provides a perfect opportunity for training providers to reassess what training they should be developing. By using the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Business Readiness Level (BRL) they will be able to identify future skills gaps, and then look at courses to co-develop content. They will also be able to see use cases as possible career paths for students and find potential collaborators among the Pledgers.

Financial Partner/Institution

For the financial institutions interested in developing technology and investment, the Tech Radar helps them identify possible industries (use cases) and organisations (Pledgers) to engage with. By using the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Business Readiness Level (BRL) they will be able to identify growth areas, and they will also be able to discover future skills gaps by searching the list of courses.

Tech Radar features

Users will be able to:

  • Explore use cases that anchor each of the technologies into tangible, real-world solutions to some of society’s greatest challenges e.g., climate change.
  • Study data, such as Technology and Business Readiness Levels, to help assess how close to market reality the technologies are.
  • Discover skills gaps across the various deep tech areas.
  • Uncover links between the deep tech areas and Sustainable Development Goals
  • Find EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative Pledgers who are active in different deep tech areas, along with their course offerings in specific tech areas.
